By definition, a nanoparticle must be as tiny as .05 nanometers in size. Meaning that only the smallest of particles can be placed in the "nanoparticle" category. Some media groups have suggested that a nanoparticle of a specific size (.001nm) can be dangerous by collecting and sticking in the lungs, causing cancer in a similar way asbestos cause mesothelioma. Not to mention, in a publication on H5N1 bird flu, a specific brand of silver was used to help prevent the bird flu and a simultaneous toxicity study was performed wherein 10 times normal, 100 times normal, and 200 times normal amounts of the liquid silver supplement were given to mice. Lung necropsy was performed to determine if the lung tissues were damaged. It was found that the lung tissues had reduced viral titers, were less inflamed and weighed less, indicating that the lungs were not being harmed by nanoparticles.. the lower weights indicate that there was a reduction in the inflammation supporting the safety of the lung particle. Structured silver is alkaline and promotes better healing potentials than the form of silver used in the body study.

If you take silver on an empty stomach there will be less salt to interfere with it. If you take it on an empty stomach you'll also absorb the silver about 15 minutes faster than if you take it with food.
